Ibiza Town Council will introduce swingeing new measures to prevent noise pollution and aggravation within its boundaries next year.
The new restrictions will cover all manner of noise, be it loud music, barking dogs, shouting, and even dumping glass into the recycling containers after 10 pm. And it's not just noise which is covered, even the vibrations caused by musical equipment or drills travelling through the walls of buildings will be affected.
The council will enforce the new laws with fines which could become very heavy indeed for persistent offenders, and figures of up to €300,000 have been mentioned. The amount of the fine will vary depending on the sensitivity of the area - heavier fines will be levied in residential areas than on say, an industrial estate.
