Pacha Portraits

Traffic came to a standstill in Ibiza's main square the Vara de Rey

Traffic came to a standstill in Ibiza's main square the Vara de Rey as perhaps one of the island's most famous photographs was recreated 28 years after it was originally taken.

We're referring to the publicity shot for the Pacha Discotheque which features the great and the good of the 70's clubbing scene carefully arranged on the balconies of the Hotel Montesol.

This week, the very same photographer, Toni Riera, returned to the scene with slightly better equipment to re-shoot the photo using people connected with the club today as models. There were dancers, waitresses and DJ's, Roger Sanchez and Erick Morillo, who was the last to show up, all following Toni Riera's megaphoned instructions from a platform opposite the hotel.

The finished photo will appear in a book due to published next year which tells the history of Pacha.
