The Spanish love a good soap, opera, that is. Afternoon TV is littered with heavily made-up, histrionic women falling in and out of love and relationships, and failing to see the blindingly obvious - and that's just the adverts!
Last year when the already popular 'Cuéntame' series was filmed in Ibiza over 7 million viewers tuned in to watch, so now Spain's main TV channel TVE1 has plans to make a special soap opera based on the island. The Island Government is working closely with TVE on the soap, as it is hoped that the small screen portrayal of Ibiza will increase Spanish tourism to the island both in the main season and winter. The name of the programme will be revealed in next week's news!
