Police and Guardia Civil have at last been able to collect a pack of thirty or so dogs which have been living in the woods at the side of the Es Cubells road for several years. The dogs are all Podencos, hunting dogs which are descended from the Egyptian Pharaoh hound, and all belong to one man who refuses to pen them in.

There have been many complaints from the neighbours in this area about the nuisance, and authorities were also concerned about the danger to traffic on the nearby road.

Finally a judgement was made in Palma that the woods were not 'an adequate zoological installation' and staff from the municipal dog pounds were able to move in by first sedating the dogs before collecting them off the land. There were no less than 23 puppies, only a few days old, amongst the pack which are all now in temporary accommodation, awaiting either re-homing, or a significantly worse fate.
