At last the eyesore which passed as Guardia Civil headquarters on the main road from Ibiza to Playa den Bossa is being torn down. The building which has had a down at heel appearance for many years also provides accommodation for the families of the Guardia and will be totally demolished within 2 months. The new HQ, on the same site will be ready in 2004 and will include jacuzzis, an indoor pool, and a gymnasium and will cost €6 million. Somewhat less than the €6000 million originally declared by Marienna Sánchez-Jáuregui, the Insular Director of Security, who admitted some confusion between Pesetas and Euros!
