The northern ring road of San Antonio will not be open to traffic for at least another two or three months admitted island road supremo Vicent Tur, who not long ago claimed that it would open in October. Now almost 4 years behind schedule, work was scheduled to start in summer 1998, when the project became snarled in red tape and was delayed by the National Road Plan's lack of approval. Now, 20 months after the construction was actually started and continual delays, not a single metre of tarmac has been laid. When it does eventually open it will bypass the busy steets of San Antonio to reach Cala Grassio, Cala Salada, the northern suburbs, and the beautiful countryside around Santa Ines.
