On 11 December 2024 at 20:00, the historic Refectory Hall of Ibiza Town Hall in Dalt Vila will be transformed into a space for urban art with the exhibition Urban Art at the Refectory: Eivissa, Heritage in Spray.
Open every day to public from 9:00 - 14:30 until 16 February 2025, this exhibition brings urban art to this iconic location, the refectory of the former convent, now converted into an exhibition hall. Entry is via Plaça d'Espanya, by the Town Hall in Dalt Vila.
This event is organised by Lucía Barbiero, creator and organiser of the Fantasía Ibiza Festival, with the support of Carmen Domínguez, Councillor for Culture, and Francesca Tur, Director of the Historical Archive of Eivissa and Formentera.
Lucía Barbiero comments:
"Urban art is a form of expression that emerged in the Bronx in the 1970s, driven by the desire to assert one’s existence. This is why it developed primarily in the streets. I am deeply passionate about this artistic expression. Art belongs to everyone and is for everyone. For years, I have dreamed of organising an urban art exhibition in a historic location in Ibiza to elevate this art form, which deserves space both in its natural setting—the city walls—and in galleries or historic exhibition halls. The Refectory is the perfect venue for this."
Six graffiti artists present works inspired by the 25th anniversary of Ibiza’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, all created in May 2024 during the second edition of the Fantasía Ibiza Festival.
"Their works works reflect a connection with the values of sustainability, inclusion, exchange, and respect for the environment and nature," says Lucía Barbiero. "These are the values we champion at the festival."
With this exhibition, Fantasía Ibiza Festival aims to kickstart a series of cultural activities throughout the year and across different municipalities.
The third edition of the Fantasía Ibiza Festival will take place on 16, 17, and 18 May 2025.
