8th Edition of Ibiza wine fair

A walk through the world of wine.

Roll up, roll up for the 8th biennial Viniterraneus wine fair taking place once again this year, when around 4,000 wine lovers are expected to pack into the Can Bernat restaurant on Thursday 16th April, 2015.

Having been held every couple of years since its inaugural edition in 2001, Viniterraneus has grown in both numbers and prestige, so much so that it now has to use this much bigger events venue in Santa Gertrudis.

Organisers Enotecum, wine merchants who also run sommelier courses and wine tastings, have pulled together a large stable of 100 exhibitors representing 170 bodegas from all over Spain and beyond who'll be bringing along their finest brews for all to sample.

It gives the manufacturers a chance to expound their philosophy and care they take in the production of their wines directly to the punters, a mix of enthusiastic amateurs and professionals from Ibiza's restaurant sector.

So what happens? Simple; everyone is given a glass as they enter and there's a recommended route to follow to max up your pleasure and appreciation of the wine. Start on the sparkling wines, Cava and the like, move onto the light and refreshing whites, keep going through the rosés, and finish your main course with the heavier, more full bodied reds.

Don't forget to leave some room for dessert, the sweet white wines perfect for puddings, and if you're in the mood for a long cool snifter, hit the cocktail workshop for a premium G&T! And for purists, there's no need to worry about drinking on an empty stomach as there'll be plenty of food available at easy on the wallet prices.

If you're on holiday in Ibiza, Viniteranneus is a great opportunity to sample some of Spain's best wines, and there are many really excellent ones to choose from. And if you live in Ibiza, it gives us a chance to sample some 'exotic' international wines that we don't normally see in the supermarkets here.
