Many of us love a coffee to kick start the day, for an afternoon pick-up or even a post-dinner boost after a meal well enjoyed. Ibiza, like many Mediterranean locations, is all about the "black gold" at all times of the day.
Café con leche, or milky coffee, is what locals drink mostly. Alternatively, you could do as the fishermen do and get a booze-infused (brandy or whiskey) café carajillo. You don't need to get in the daily catch to enjoy one.
Those with a sweet tooth should definitely try a café bombón, which comes with a thick slug of condensed milk at the bottom so you can stir in its silky sweetness. And if it's more than a sweet coffee you need to get you started, see our breakfast tips here.
We've rounded up a selection of great places to grab a coffee at all times of the day. Check out our top picks of island locations below.
Ibiza Town

When it comes to people watching while getting your caffeine fix, nowhere does it better than La Cava Tapas Bar. Its picturesque setting upon the beautiful central square of Vara de Rey makes it a fine spot for a morning brew, while enjoying the sights and sounds of a bustling Ibiza Town.
A destination loved by locals and fortuitously discovered by passing holidaymakers, it always brings an extra buzz to your day, even before any coffee intake.
Just a few steps away, Café Montesol, and its stunning rooftop terrace, add an extra elevation to any café hit. Whilst this beautiful alfresco setting is quite the eye-catcher, your gaze won't help but get caught by the panoramic views of Ibiza's historic old town and dazzling Dalt Vila beyond.
While you’re in the downtown area, Plaza del Parque - located parallel to the main thoroughfare of Vara del Rey - has long been a favourite with residents and holidaymakers alike, thanks to the various cafes dotted around. Our favourite is the terrace in front of Hostal Parque, which is the perfect point for observing passers-by and local street performers.
Marina Botafoc
Situated almost opposite the entrance to this marina is Massa Coffee, created with the modern European café style in mind. You will find not just great coffees, of which they are justifiably proud, but also light breakfasts, lunches and delicious home-made pastries.
San Antonio
A very popular spot overlooking the water, Rita's Cantina is a renowned San Antonio meeting point for visitors and residents alike. Open all year-round, it's a rite of passage for everyone thanks to its great coffees, relaxed atmosphere and menu that has stood the test of time.
Another unmissable pitstop for that essential coffee break (or an awesome breakfast) is Melbourne Street Coffee in the heart of San Antonio. Expect delicious Lavazza coffee, awesome cappuccinos and a big Aussie-style welcome! Their cold brew coffee is particularly popular.
Around the bay, Cool Cafè - in San Antonio Bay - serves coffee (wide variety of milks available) along with custom breakfasts, home-baked breads, handmade pastries, natural juices, and a large menu throughout the day.
Santa Eulalia
Right in the centre of Santa Eulalia, Royalty is one of the town's oldest cafés. Its outdoor terrace is a popular hub for the many people who flock to this local institution. You can enjoy this place at any time of day, and of course, coffee is served all day long.
Another contender, if you are in Santa Eulalia, is Capricho. Located on the beautiful Santa Eulalia promenade, it is ideal for sipping a brew while taking in the fine views of Santa Eulalia bay.
Meke are roasters and purveyors of single-origin, ethical and sustainable coffee. Located on a corner close to the Town Hall, the shop is a destination that anyone who takes their coffee seriously should visit - it could possibly be the best on the island.
San Carlos
Bar Anita is an absolute must-visit and an island legend. During the 60s, it was a crucible for the island's nascent hippy culture and is still a hub for the local San Carlos villagers. Look out for the original post boxes that still exist inside. It makes a superb place to grab a morning coffee, plus it produces its own version of the local liqueur, hierbas ibicencas.
Down the road towards Santa Eulalia, Las Dalias Café offers a great selection of coffees, with charming space inside and out in a wonderfully rustic yet hip café/restaurant. It really is a lovely spot to start your day with a great cup of "Morning Joe" or just to stop awhile for a refuel when in this village.
San Juan
Giri Café is set in a 300-year-old townhouse, holding just as much charm as the pretty village of San Juan, in which it resides. Open from morning till night, you can stop by at any time. People really love its sun-drenched garden, which visitors flock to, to unwind and refresh.
Santa Gertrudis
Musset Café is a popular spot in the cosmopolitan village of Santa Gertrudis. Considered by many to offer the best coffee in the neighbourhood, it's definitely worth a visit. Make sure to get a table on the outdoor terrace.
Polen Ecoshop has high-quality coffee to drink on their terrace or take home to brew your own. Tuck into their range of tasty snacks while there (people rave about the organic sourdough bread), many of which are vegan or gluten-free.
Buscastells, Forada, near San Antonio
Can Tixedó Art Café is a hip haven located in the tiny village of Forada, just a ten-minute drive from San Antonio. It's a popular place, especially on Saturdays when it's market day. The prices are reasonable, and they offer a rotating local art display, which means there's always something new to enjoy.
