Ibiza 2016 season news roundup ONE

A round-up of the news from January.

These past weeks have been marked in the calendar by every Ibiza lover worth their salt since the last track of the last set of the last closing party. This is so because, slightly earlier than previous years, promoters and club owners are revealing their parties for the season in order to bring to the island the best choices for locals and holiday makers.

As some folks have announced their return and development for 2016, others have said goodbye like Richie Hawtin's Enter team - which confirmed last month its desire to explore other destinations for the hottest months. But sometimes changes are necessary and, apart from being a farewell year and the last call for those who have never been into Space or checked the legendary Carl Cox out at his Ibiza parties, 2016 marks a season where fresh air and novelties seem to be the main protagonists.

If you have missed any of the news from throughout January, here's a sluce of what we know so far. Of course, if you want to know every tiny detail - far too much to include in this weeks magazine - then please head on over to our website here.

1 - Space Ibiza Opening date confirmed

The 29th of May is the date that the legendary Space Ibiza club has set to kick off what will be its final season ever, in the form we know it as today. Five different areas in which to lose, find or expose yourself under a very special canopy of energy, happiness and nostalgia. The artists who will liven up the evening are still unknown at this early stage, but you can expect quality at the highest of levels for this, their last Space opening party. The first bunch of tickets are available now at Spotlight for 50€.

2 - Cream and Together come back to Amnesia for 2016

Thursdays are for Cream and Tuesdays for Together. Both parties have confirmed their respective residencies at San Rafael's super club. The Cream trance and house family will celebrate a milestone of 21 years on the island for over 14 weeks from the big opening on the 9th of June until September 15th. Meanwhile, Together is preparing its 6th year bringing the bass to Ibiza's crowd with a mammoth sized 16-week stint which will kick off the next 7th of June. Big names like Chase & Status, Sigma and Skrillex were on the decks last summer, just saying.

3- ABODE announces Ibiza Sankeys' basement residency

Flying all the way from the UK, ABODE will land at Ibiza's Sankeys the following 24th of June for a whole summer season. The hugely respected London party has hosted some notorious names and labels like Hot Creations, Paradise and Defected, so expect quality selectors in front of the dancefloors. For 2016, ABODE keeps Fridays at Sankeys' Basement room. There's plenty of change at Sankeys this year too, check the link for more.

4 - Glitterbox confirms line-ups for 2016 season

Glitterbox, the disco and house party which took over Space for the very first time last summer and was a huge success, is returning this season to the house that nurtured its spark. Every Friday from the 3rd of June and until the 23rd of September, the glitter-babes will be spreading love by the hand of a first round of confirmed artists like Defected label-head Simon Dunmore, Basement Jaxx, Dimitri From Paris, Todd Terry, Joey Negro, Roger Sanchez, DJ Pippi and Purple Disco Machine.

5 - Pure Pacha, Martin Solveig's 'My House' and F*** Me I'm Famous return to Pacha in 2016

Pacha confirms three of the parties for the summer season. Pure Pacha will be Saturday's queen one more time with Bob's Sinclair at the helm all ready to turn the club into an authentic Parisian cabaret. Martin Solveig's 'My House' returns for round 2 of Wednesday nights from 25th May, a residency that also coincides with the celebration of 11 years on Ibiza for Mr Solveig. And, of course, one of the legendary party brands on the island, David Güetta's F*** Me I Am Famous, will be back to the club on Thursdays for 19 weeks. No line-ups revealed yet.
