Franky Rizardo on the record: In a state of FLOW

From Amsterdam to Ibiza - our curly-haired hero jets into Pacha for a one night only on 1 May.

Following last year’s blockbuster date, Franky Rizardo’s FLOW is back at Pacha Ibiza for one night only on Thursday 1 May.

Forming part of the club’s tantalising pre-season programme, it’s proof of how well the party was received during its debut in 2024 and Pacha’s commitment to underground clubbing in these early stages of the season.

Backing this up, Franky has moulded a line-up that will appeal to the demographic currently on the island. Max Dean, HoneyLuv and Calvin Clarke have all been booked alongside him. We followed up on our chat from last year, to find out what has changed and what fans can expect.

Tell us about FLOW. What was the drive to get it started and what have been your biggest achievements?

"We started FLOW around ten years ago, following our start as a radio show on Dutch radio station SLAMFM. It then grew naturally into organising events - which further blossomed into a label LTF Records, which is part of the FLOW family as well. We love going out ourselves and getting lost in the Flow of the music, hence the name.

We started first in our home country, the Netherlands, then to Europe and onto events in Asia. Now, we’re heading back to Ibiza!"

What new for FLOW this year compared to last summer’s party?

"This year, we’re really focused on evolving the experience - both musically and visually.

We’ve been fine-tuning the sound, bringing in some fresh talent alongside our core family and working on new ways to surprise the crowd throughout the night. From the way the night builds to how the space feels when you walk in, every detail matters.

We put a lot of energy into making each edition feel like its own world.

Pacha is a perfect fit, because the layout ensures you’re closely connected to the dancefloor."

What’s one aspect of FLOW that makes it unique compared to other parties found on Ibiza?

"With FLOW we always try to realise more than just partying. We try to get people into a FLOW state of mind. The mental state in which a person is fully immersed in a feeling of full involvement and enjoyment of the activity.

There’s a real sense of community and connection we see at our parties with the crowd, which we feel is very special to a FLOW night."

Looking back over the past years, what are some of the most defining moments for FLOW that have shaped it into what it is today?

"There are so many! From the very first FLOW in Ibiza last year to some of the sold out nights in Amsterdam where the energy was just unreal. But I think it’s also the quiet moments: the team talks, the risks we took by staying independent, going over each detail ourselves.

Those decisions shaped the heart of FLOW."

What do you want to achieve over the next ten years?

"In the beginning, it was about putting out a sound I believed in and connecting with like-minded people. That part hasn’t changed. But over time, it’s grown into a platform - a space where artists can express themselves fully and where the crowd knows they’re part of something genuine.

Over the next ten years, I’d love to expand FLOW’s global reach without losing that intimacy. More unique locations, deeper connections and always pushing quality over quantity."

How do you balance the pressure of keeping FLOW fresh and exciting with staying true to the sound and vibe that it’s known for?

"That balance is everything. I always go back to what made me fall in love with this music in the first place. Trends come and go, but the essence: the groove, the emotion - that’s timeless. I’m always digging for new sounds, new artists, new ways to surprise people, but it has to feel authentic.

If it doesn’t hit me in the gut, it doesn’t make the cut."

In what ways have the partnerships and collaborations over the years influenced the direction of FLOW? Are there any collaborations that stand out for you?

"Collaborations have played a huge role.

Working with people who genuinely get the vision helps take FLOW to new levels. Some of the artists we’ve hosted became close friends and regulars and those relationships shaped the vibe naturally.

But also working with clubs like Pacha, or creative teams that understand the brand. It’s a constant evolution."

When you're not playing yourself here, who is it that you like to see? Are there any parties or DJs that have caught your attention?

"I love to visit a variety of nights, just to get a feel of what’s going on on the island. From Circoloco in DC10 to Cova Santa. Obviously, Marco Carola is one of the main people I admire. His music selection, his passion and his work ethic are incredible and always inspiring."

Where do you go if you've got free time on Ibiza?

"Although I’m not the biggest fan of the beach, I still enjoy going to a beach club to relax after a good night out.

Benirràs beach is a lot of fun with the drums. I think it's a very special vibe. The first time I went to the island, Simon Dunmore from Defected took me there, and it was an amazing experience.

For dinner, there are so many good spots in Ibiza. You can have great food everywhere. If you’re looking for a nice romantic spot, Hostal La Torre offers an amazing sunset during dinner."
