Defected hits the decorated milestone of 25 years in 2024. Dubbed Defected XXV, the monumental year has already announced its intentions for summer with the high-profile switch to Ushuaïa.
Yes, after being based in San Antonio since 2017, Defected has migrated to the other side of the island. Even after 25 years, the evolution continues. A rolling stone gathers no moss.
Aside from the move being a big talking point in-and-of itself, we don't know a great deal so far.
What we do know, is that it starts on 7 May and ends on 1 October - a long season. We also know that each date opens from 17:00 in the evening, so we get an extended period of partying.
It also poses an intriguing question: which artists could Defected look at to bring to Ushuaïa? Its history, reputation and standing gives it access to the biggest House DJs on the planet.
Nic Fanciulli is a firm favourite at Ushuaïa and has released on the Defected label
MK fits the bill and has already been a Ushuaïa resident for the last two years. Might we see him on Tuesdays? Defected helped break John Summit's career and he has declared his love for the club. That would be a sweet, sweet matrimony. Then old Ushuaïa favourite Nic Fanciulli has a past relationship with Defected too. Whoever Defected goes for, it's not short on options.
Add some heritage acts that Defected has long been associated with, Masters At Work, Kings Of Tomorrow, Danny Tenaglia..., and the potential for this new residency is unlimited.
But it's not all about established superstars. Defected has always kept its finger on the pulse and invested in the next generation. Mason Collective, Shermanology and Rio Tashan are just a few to pass through the Defected academy books in recent years. The kids are alright!
We're just speculating, of course. The reveal can't be too far away. We're just getting over-excited!
ANTS has been Ushuaïa's only source of underground music... until now! Welcome Defected
The other thing worth noting is that when you stack Defected up against the rest of the Ushuaïa line-up, it's clear both itself and ANTS offering something different.
While the rest of the week guarantees flashing stage designs, pyrotechnics and loud mainstream EDM, these two parties are the alternative catering to House music lovers.
Tickets, including tremendous value early entry options that maximise daylight dancing, are on sale now and available for all dates. You can find them below or by visiting our party calendar.
