Returning to the White Isle to celebrate the 20th anniversary, the annual DJ Awards have released the categories and nominations for their 2017 edition. Finally, the names are out.
As always, the DJ Awards team and a panel of electronic dance music industry experts have teamed up to develop a fresh set of categories that best represents the scene today.
For this year's program there are nine music categories that best attempts to cover the expansive scope of electronic music including Bass, Big Room House, Deep House, Downtempo & Eclectic, Electronic Live Performer, House, Tech House, Techno and Trance. Three non music categories include Breakthrough, Newcomer and International DJ.
Unlike other awards, this one is not a competition. The DJ Awards looks to celebrate and honor those individuals in the scene who have made an impact on the electronic music scene internationally.
Because of this process, the DJ Awards have been called the Oscars of the electronic music industry. Make sure to vote for your favourites.
Along with the publicly voted music and non-music awards, an additional 12 Special Industry Awards will be bestowed on lucky winners decided on by the panel. These categories include Cutting Edge, Dance Nation, Eco Award, Electronic Music Pioneer, Ibiza DJ, Radio & TV, Ibiza Music Event, Ibiza Night, International Festival, Producer, Record Label of the Year, and Track of the Season.
This year, the DJ awards will, for the first time ever, move from Pacha to Ushuaïa Entertainment's new Hï Ibiza for an event that will bring the world's most elite DJs, influential professionals and media together under the same roof. Appropriately held in September, there will also be an exclusive party after the the ceremony to properly wrap up the season.
Voting is open until the beginning of August so if you want to see your favorite artists win, go here and vote now!
