Ibiza Jams

Having spent tens of millions of Euros widening two already wide roads.

Having spent tens of millions of Euros widening two already wide roads – from Ibiza to the airport and San Antonio – a new study has shown the Government that it would probably have been better to improve the road to Santa Eulalia.

It's a one lane highway which always had lots of traffic and now, since the motorways made it easier to get to, it has more traffic than ever! Trying to turn into it from a side road can sometimes take what seems like forever, and if anybody is turning left up ahead you can be in a queue of traffic hundreds of metres long.

The figures show and average of 28,628 vehicles use the road every day of the year – 8% more than the previous year. Obviously, the number of vehicles increases in summer when Ibiza is bursting at the seams – on 6th August this year a total of 42,237 vehicles graced the tarmac with their presence.

If ever a road needed improving it's this one. Santa Eulalia is a big centre of population as well as a popular resort and with Cala Llonga and Es Cana nearby the area needs a much better access.
