Whilst comparatively small areas of Ibiza have been over developed to accommodate the tourist masses, the vast majority of the island remains an unspoilt rural idyll.
Thankfully the landscape and traditional buildings are being actively preserved with the help of a grant from the EC. This week 65 country folk have been given funds to help them maintain, conserve, and clean trees such as figs, pines, and savinas, and to keep 88 kilometres of dry stone wall in peak condition.
Also to be preserved are the traditional ovens, cisterns, water wheels, and wells.
