San Antonio's famous tree lined entrance is looking slightly different now after lumberjacks moved in this week and chopped down 6 trees. The move came after the council engaged a specialist firm of tree doctors from Barcelona to examine all the 133 'plátano' trees which are such a landmark on the approach to San Antonio. Diseases, defects, and even termites' nests were found in a total of 29 of the trees and the 6 which were subsequently cut down, were in imminent danger of collapse. The remainder will be treated, trimmed and generally tidied up so that they can continue to grow more healthily.
