Cala d'Hort is a beautiful, arc-shaped sandy cove just a ten minute drive from San Jose on the south-west coast of Ibiza. Its most famous draw is the awe-inspiring view of the mysterious islet of Es Vedrà, which rises dramatically from the sea only several hundred metres from the shore. The beach is sandy to one side and pebbly to the other.
In summer, it's popular with all sorts of visitors: old and young locals, holidaymakers and couples. There is a small boutique open in high summer that sells designer beachwear.
Its location at the end of a steep road eans that - during busy times, the access road is reduced to single track due to the number of parked vehicles. Hence, if you want to avoid a long walk uphill back to your car after spending the day sunbathing, you're advised to get there early.
The beach of Cala d'Hort is entirely smoke-free, in a bid to keep the sands pristine for all who visit.
The mix of sand and pebble beach with its bright crystalline waters (ideal for swimming and snorkelling) is protected by towering cliffs that surround the bay,making it just the spot to enjoy spectacular panoramic views, great sunbathing, and unforgettable sunsets depending on the exact time of the season.
One of Ibiza's Blue Flag beaches, the waters are impeccably clean. The standard mix of sun-loungers and parasols are available to hire, there is access for the disabled and lifeguards are on duty.
For the food-lovers among you, Cala d'Hort has three excellent beach restaurants, particularly renowned for delicacies such as Peix Bullit (a delicious fresh fish dish) and Paella.
